About

Neha D. Shah, FOUNDER

MPH, RD, CNSC, CHES

Neha began her career at Stanford Health Care, providing bedside nutrition care to patients with head/neck, gynecologic, and GI-related cancers, including those recovering from GI surgery.

She later came into the Digestive Health Center to build nutrition services for the GI and liver clinics, working closely with patients with celiac disease, dumping syndrome, gastroparesis, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal pseudo-obstruction, irritable bowel syndrome, issues with ostomies, pancreatitis, SIBO, scleroderma, cirrhosis, and fatty liver.

She co-led the development of Nutrition Support and Intestinal Rehabilitation programs to bring specialized care to patients on enteral/parenteral nutrition and those with short bowel syndrome. She also served as the intestinal and liver transplant dietitian to provide pre- and post-transplant care.

Neha also owns a private practice, Neha Shah Nutrition LLC, where she provides nutrition care to patients with GI and liver disorders, including South Asian patients.

Neha is first generation here in the United States. Although she was born and raised in the United States, the Indian culture, including its food culture, continues to have a big influence in how she approaches her food choices, especially for health, joy, and comfort.

Her dada and dadi, her grandparents, moved in with Neha and her family when she was 10 years old. Her dada and dadi had many issues with their health, especially with heart disease and diabetes. Neha’s mom would make multiple trips back and forth to the hospital on a daily basis to bring Indian foods as her dada and dadi refused to eat the non-Indian foods off the menus there.

Watching this unfold throughout the years, one must wonder, why was this so hard? What could have made it easier? This was her first insight of the gaps in healthcare as access to cultural foods was poor.
